Movement
In 1989, I ran the founding conference of the AD
2000 movement in Singapore. Here is how we positioned things.

The Rise of Millennial
Evangelism
I wrote these articles on AD 2000 evangelism from
1989 to 1992. It was a season of great expectations.

The Fall of AD 2000
Evangelism
By 1995, it was evident that evangelicals would
not reach their "by the year 2000" goals. I was the first to call for
self-criticism and suggest a "beyond 2000" horizon for world missions.

call
Read words that inspired millions to mark the year 2000
as Jesus' jubilee, the first and highest millennial focus.
-
Global
Evangelization Movement
From 1989 to 1994, I worked closely with
this research group, led by Dr. David Barrett, to monitor the AD 2000 evangelism
phenomena.

AD 2000
& Beyond Movement
This coalition, led by Luis Bush, had
great promise, but like its 19th century predecessors, failed to reach its
century-end targets.
- What
Mean These Stones?
Here is the 20th anniversary "Watchword

Long into the 21st century, church historians, missiologists and graduate students will look back to the late 20th century to understand the roots of a movement to evangelize the world by 2000. The Spirit of Christmas 2000
Dec 1, 1995
Up until now, we may have only seen the year 2000 as the biggest New Year's Eve in a 1,000 years. I believe soon we will see A.D. 2000 as the most meaningful Christmas in 2,000 years. When that starts to happen, the whole world could experience a new awakening in light of the new millennium. Future generations could look back and marvel at the impact of "The Spirit of 2000."

Has the Window of Opportunity Closed for 2000?
May 1, 1995
Due to unresolved issues, the Global Consultation on AD 2000 in 1989 ended unexpectantly. Rather than create an "AD 2000" global task force, the steering committee unexpectedly resigned, convinced that the Holy Spirit would foster an AD 2000 movement in some other way.

AD 2000: Prophetic or Target Date?
Bimillennial Press: 1995
The year 2000 is the mother of all target dates, perfect for the end time missionary battle. Date-setting seems to be a popular pastime these days. Like finely feathered darts, people are throwing dates all over the millennial dart board.

Reaching the World for Christ by the year 2000: World Christian News: Oct. 1994
As we creep ever-closer to that huge, looming milestone called the year 2000, missionary leaders are split over an issue which for many has become a near obsessionIs it possible to complete the Great Commission by the turn of the century?

The March of the Millennium
An excerpt from The Star of 2000, Bimillennial Press: June 1994
Indeed, this century has seen some great marches. Yet these marches pale in comparison to the true and greater march led by Jesus. As a greater Moses, Jesus is leading a greater exodus as we cross into the third millennium. I believe it rightfully should be called, the "March of the Millennium."
