Dr. Michael Marien, a long-time editor of Future Survey from 1979 to 2009, and winner of the 2008 Distinguished Service Award from the World Future Society, has launched a new service, called GlobalForesightBooks.org

The site is devoted to new and forthcoming futures-relevant books on global and U.S. concerns. Marien has it up and running, with some 1,200 "mini-abstracts" of published books since 2009. This also includes "Recommended" books and "Paradigm-Breaking" books.

The site also provides structured categories to think about trends, forecasts, and visions of the near and far future through 25 generic subjects (world futures, climate change, security, energy, communications, health, education, science and technology, methods, etc.).

Marien will lead a session this summer at the professional members forum of the World Future Society on July 11th, to consider the implications of 'secondary' books to futures thinking.
