Authentic Leadership in College Sports
Jun 11, 2007
Recent concerns about the integrity, openness and transparency of leadership in business, politics, and law enforcement is spurring on new research into a framework of authentic leadership. Few empirical studies, however, have tested this theory's constructs at the individual, group or organizational level. To fill this gap, this paper proposes to study the variables that might affect the perceptions that head coaches have concerning the authentic leadership of athletic directors.

Interviewing High Hope Leaders
Oct 4, 2005
There is an increased emphasis in psychology today on defining and measuring positive constructs such as optimism and hope. Yet a majority of the research in hope theory has come from the quantitative paradigm. Given that hope is largely intentional in nature, I recently wrote a proposal describing how I would conduct a qualititative study to understand hope from the interior perspective of leaders. Read about The Hope Scale and how more opened ended interview questions might further complement our understanding of personal goal-setting.

Recently I presented a paper on this movement, arguing that its micro and meso-level strategy need a macro-strategy of societal transformation for the 21st century.
