Modern Scholarship Reinvents
the Historical Jesus

Who is Jesus? What did he do? What did he say? After nearly 2,000 years, Jesus of Nazareth still incites controversy and unsettles scholars and laypeople alike.
In the last fews years, this been the subject of scrutiny by a group of radical scholars called the Jesus Seminar. Jesus Under Fire is a timely, well-researched, understandable, refutation of these alternative interpretations. In depth scholarship is brought into popular reach, and arguments are are clearly laid out so that the church and broader community can consider the issues at stake intelligently and responsibly.
Ten contributors, including New Testament scholars and philosophers, begin with an evaluation of the methodology of the modern critical approach and a review of the latest wave of controversial books. The words, the actions, the miracles and the resurrection of Jesus are examined for authenticity.
Jesus Under Fire represents positive evidence for who Jesus was, as well as the limitations of that evidence. It also presents the orthodox case on scholarly grounds, to show why reliability of the historical Jesus can be accepted as found in the Gospels.
